Digi-pen
What is a Digital Pen?
To a digital pen user, a digital pen writes like a standard ballpoint pen. The difference is that a digital pen captures pen strokes written on pattern paper. The pattern enables the digital pen to capture each handwritten stroke accurately and precisely. Since the pattern is unique to each sheet of paper, the pen recognizes the specific form being used and determines where on the form the user is writing and if the pen is moved from one form to another. The digital pen will automatically download the information by placing the pen in a USB-connected cradle at a PC.The digital pen's memory can hold up to 40 pages of letter-size notes of handwritten information, or the equivalent of 200 typical one page forms. The digital pen's memory can hold up to 40 pages of letter-size notes of handwritten information, or the equivalent of 200 typical one page forms.
What is a Pattern Paper?
The patterned paper enables the capture of handwriting with a digital pen. The pattern is an arrangement of microscopic dots printed on each sheet, which appear as a light gray background. The pattern is unique to each sheet and can distinguish over 70 trillion different sheets. This ensures that the appropriate handwritten information correlates to the correct sheet of paper. The pattern is captured by a digital pen that records movements over the sheet of paper. The pattern can be printed successfully on many types and sizes of paper including carbonless forms and pressure sensitive labels. The pattern paper can be printed on demand when and where it is needed or ahead of time in large volumes.
You simply print from any application using the DigiPaper printer driver. A unique pattern of microdots is added to the document as it is printed, and an image of the document is automatically store on your computer for later reference. You can also do bulk printing by creating a print to file document and send it to your printer.
Write
Next, you write with a digital pen on the printed form as you normally do with a normal pen. DigiPaper special pattern of dots enables the digital pen to automatically sense its location and record your handwriting in its memory.
PDF image
When the pen is docked in its cradle, the recorded ink is downloaded and matched with the image of the original document - instantly creating an exact copy of the handwritten document in PDF format, just as if you had scanned or photocopied it!
Automatic Action
Once ink is applied, the resulting PDF is automatically sent, stored, managed, or used by any software application - based on custom actions that are designated at print time - including using partner software.
